Introduction
Vitamin D3 Oil Feed Grade is the liquid concentrate format produced by standardizing Vitamin D3 resin (the crude concentrate from UV irradiation of 7-dehydrocholesterol) to defined IU concentration in food-grade vegetable oil carrier.
Production proceeds by analytical assay of crude Vitamin D3 resin, then dilution with food-grade vegetable oil (typically corn oil or MCT oil) to the target potency. The oil is then supplied for feed-mill use or further processed to spray-dried powder formats.
Regulatory status follows that of standard Vitamin D3 (GRAS in the U.S., approved by JECFA, listed in major pharmacopoeias).
The oil format is the feedstock for all other commercial Vitamin D3 formats. Powder grades (CWS, Feed Grade powder) are produced by spray-drying the oil with carrier matrices; crystalline grades are produced by recrystallization from the oil.
Strategic positioning serves liquid-feed manufacturing and as the feedstock for downstream Vitamin D3 powder grades. Cost per IU is meaningfully lower than powder formats due to elimination of spray-drying and carrier costs.
