02 — Background

Introduction

This SKU is the corn oil carrier version of Vitamin D3 oil concentrate, distinct from MCT-oil-carried Vitamin D3 (catalog id 14633) by carrier choice. Corn oil is the cost-effective standard carrier for food-grade Vitamin D3 applications globally.

Production proceeds by dilution of Vitamin D3 resin in food-grade corn oil to defined potency, with BHT or natural tocopherol antioxidant added for stability. Corn oil is recognized as a permitted food ingredient and provides adequate stability for standard food-fortification applications.

Regulatory status follows that of standard Vitamin D3 (GRAS in the U.S., approved globally for food use).

The carrier choice between corn oil, MCT oil, and soybean oil drives meaningful differences in cost, taste, oxidative stability, and clean-label positioning. Corn oil is the workhorse: lower cost than MCT, broader regulatory acceptance than coconut-derived MCT in some markets, and adequate stability for standard applications.

Strategic positioning serves cost-driven food fortification and standard supplement manufacturing where the premium positioning of MCT carrier is not commercially required.
