Description
The water-soluble phosphate form of Vitamin B2, also known as Riboflavin 5'-Phosphate Sodium or FMN-Na (flavin mononucleotide sodium). Used wherever water solubility matters: liquid pharmaceutical formulations, fortified beverages, and clinical nutrition.
Yellow to orange crystalline powder. Highly water-soluble (approximately 100 mg per mL), distinct from standard Riboflavin which is only sparingly water-soluble.
We supply food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Standard Food Grade (FCC compliant), Pharmaceutical Grade meeting BP/USP/EP specifications, and Injectable Grade for parenteral pharmaceutical applications.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, specific rotation, phosphate content, related substances, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate is the 5'-phosphate ester of Riboflavin, produced as the sodium salt for water solubility. The compound is the bioactive coenzyme form of Vitamin B2 (FMN), the same molecule the body naturally produces from dietary riboflavin.
Industrial production proceeds by phosphorylation of Riboflavin using phosphoryl chloride or enzymatic phosphorylation, followed by neutralization with sodium hydroxide and crystallization.
Regulated as E101(ii) in the EU, classified as Generally Recognized as Safe by the U.S. FDA, listed in BP, USP, and EP pharmacopoeias, and approved by JECFA with an Acceptable Daily Intake of 0.5 mg per kg body weight (combined with standard riboflavin).
The compound's principal advantage over standard Riboflavin (catalog id 7858) is water solubility: approximately 100 mg per mL versus 0.1 mg per mL for free Riboflavin. This makes Riboflavin Sodium Phosphate the only practical form for injectable pharmaceutical applications and the preferred form for fortified beverages and liquid clinical-nutrition products.
Strategic positioning serves liquid pharmaceutical and beverage applications specifically. Cost per mg of Vitamin B2 activity is meaningfully higher than standard Riboflavin, limiting use to applications where water solubility is functionally required.
