01 — Overview

Description

A clear, light, neutral-tasting liquid fat composed primarily of triglycerides of caprylic (C8:0) and capric (C10:0) fatty acids, fractionated from coconut oil and palm kernel oil.

Colorless to pale yellow, free-flowing at room temperature, oxidatively stable due to fully saturated medium-chain composition, and miscible with most fats and lipid-soluble actives.

We supply food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade MCT Oil from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production. Non-GMO and sustainable-palm grades are available on request.

Common market grades include standard 60:40 C8/C10, high-C8 grades (≥ 95% caprylic) for ketogenic supplement applications, 70:30 C8/C10 for nutritional beverages, and pharmacopoeial USP/EP grades for parenteral nutrition and softgel encapsulation.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering fatty acid profile, peroxide value, acid value, color, moisture, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Medium Chain Triglycerides were first developed as a clinical nutrition product in the 1950s for patients with fat malabsorption, and have since become one of the most widely used specialty lipids in supplements, sports nutrition, and food applications.

Manufacturing begins with refined coconut and palm kernel oils, which are hydrolyzed to free fatty acids, fractionated by vacuum distillation to isolate the C8 and C10 chains, then re-esterified with glycerol under catalysis to yield the finished triglyceride. The result is a defined, reproducible lipid with consistent fatty-acid composition independent of crop variability.

Recognized as Generally Recognized as Safe by the U.S. FDA, listed in USP, EP, and JP pharmacopoeias, permitted as a food ingredient in the EU, and approved for use in infant formula, parenteral nutrition, and dietary supplements across all major regulated markets.

The functional profile is defined by chain length. C8 and C10 fatty acids bypass the lymphatic chylomicron pathway, are transported directly to the liver via the portal vein, and are converted to ketone bodies within 30 to 60 minutes of ingestion. This metabolic profile underlies clinical use in malabsorption and the commercial value proposition in ketogenic supplements.

Oxidative stability is exceptional because the molecule contains no double bonds. Shelf life under proper conditions typically exceeds two years, and the oil tolerates the thermal stress of beverage UHT processing and softgel encapsulation without degradation.

03 — Applications

Where it is used

  • Ketogenic and sports-nutrition supplements; rapid hepatic conversion to ketone bodies without requiring carnitine transport
  • Bulletproof coffee, MCT creamers, and functional beverage formulations
  • Carrier oil for fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K), CBD, curcumin, and other lipophilic actives in softgel and liquid supplements
  • Clinical and enteral nutrition products for malabsorption, pancreatic insufficiency, and short bowel syndrome
  • Infant formula lipid blends as a rapidly absorbed energy source
  • Pharmaceutical excipient for parenteral nutrition emulsions and topical formulations
  • Cosmetic emollient in lotions, serums, and color cosmetics; non-comedogenic with light skin feel
  • Pet food and pet supplement applications for senior and performance animals
  • Confectionery coatings and bakery release agents where neutral flavor and oxidative stability are required
