01 — Overview

Description

A microencapsulated spray-dried powder of camellia (Camellia oleifera) seed oil enriched in diglycerides through controlled enzymatic interesterification, with the same monounsaturated profile as the parent oil and the structured-lipid metabolic benefits associated with DAG-enriched fats.

Pale yellow to off-white free-flowing powder, neutral in taste and aroma. Oil load typically 50% to 70%. Oleic acid is the dominant fatty acid at 75% to 85%, placing the lipid profile close to that of premium high-oleic oils.

We supply food-grade Camellia Oil Diglyceride Powder from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 50% Oil Load standard, 60% Oil Load for supplement applications, and customized DAG concentrations from 40% to 70%. Wall-matrix options include sodium caseinate, modified starch, and dairy-free, soy-free, and allergen-friendly systems.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering fatty acid profile, DAG content, oil load, peroxide value, moisture, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Camellia oleifera is a small evergreen tree native to southern China, cultivated for at least 2,300 years for its oil-rich seeds. Camellia seed oil, known in Chinese as cha-zi-you or chayou, is one of the four traditional Chinese woody-plant edible oils and carries significant cultural and health positioning within China and East Asian markets.

The parent oil's fatty acid profile is similar to olive oil but with a higher oleic acid content (75% to 85% versus 65% to 80% in olive), a low polyunsaturated fraction, and minimal saturated fat. The result is exceptional oxidative stability among cold-pressed seed oils.

Diglyceride enrichment uses lipase-catalyzed interesterification to convert a controlled fraction of the triglyceride feedstock to 1,3-diacylglycerol. The DAG fraction is hydrolyzed and absorbed through a metabolic pathway that suppresses chylomicron triglyceride assembly, producing a lower postprandial triglyceride response than conventional oils of identical fatty acid composition.

Microencapsulation in protein or modified-starch matrices converts the liquid oil into a free-flowing powder suitable for dry-blend formulation, with shelf life and oxidative protection that liquid oil cannot match.

Regulated as a conventional food ingredient under Chinese standards (camellia seed oil is a permitted edible oil category), and accepted under general food-ingredient provisions in the EU and U.S. when produced from approved encapsulation materials. The DAG functional positioning draws on the same evidence base as the major commercial DAG cooking oils that have been marketed in Japan, the U.S., and Europe since the 1990s.
