01 — Overview

Description

A high-EPA marine triglyceride concentrate produced by molecular distillation and re-esterification of refined fish oil, standardized to a minimum of 50% eicosapentaenoic acid and 10% docosahexaenoic acid in re-esterified triglyceride (rTG) form.

Pale yellow to amber clear oil with a mild marine note. EPA-dominant ratio is selected for cardiovascular, mood, and inflammatory-balance applications where the EPA-to-DHA ratio is clinically relevant. The re-esterified triglyceride backbone delivers higher bioavailability than ethyl ester concentrates.

We supply pharmaceutical-grade and supplement-grade EPA Concentrate from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher, GOED, and IFOS certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 50/10 rTG, 60/10 rTG, 70/10 rTG, and pharmacopoeial grades meeting USP and EP fish oil concentrate monographs. Ethyl ester (EE) forms are available where required for prescription drug analogs and cost-sensitive applications.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering fatty acid profile (GC), peroxide value, anisidine value, totox, heavy metals, dioxins and PCBs, residual solvents, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

EPA concentrates were developed in the late 1980s and 1990s after randomized trials demonstrated that long-chain omega-3 fatty acids reduced cardiovascular mortality. The pharmaceutical industry pursued ethyl ester concentrates at 90% EPA purity that became approved prescription drugs in the EU, U.S., and Japan for hypertriglyceridemia. Supplement and food-grade concentrates followed at intermediate purities and lower cost.

Production starts with refined fish oil that is converted to ethyl esters by transesterification with ethanol. The mixed ethyl ester intermediate is fractionated by molecular (short-path) distillation under high vacuum to enrich EPA and DHA. The concentrated ethyl ester is then re-esterified with glycerol using a sn-1,3 regiospecific lipase to recover the natural triglyceride backbone, delivering the bioavailability of the native triglyceride form with the enrichment of a concentrate.

Bioavailability data are well documented. Re-esterified triglyceride EPA and DHA show 70% higher absorption than ethyl ester EPA and DHA in head-to-head pharmacokinetic studies, and comparable absorption to native triglyceride fish oil at equivalent doses.

Regulatory status follows refined fish oil. The U.S. FDA accepts EPA and DHA at up to 3 g per day as Generally Recognized as Safe. The EFSA has authorized cardiovascular and triglyceride-management health claims. China permits the product as a health food ingredient and under GB 1.5.

Commercial positioning sits in the premium concentrate segment, where the EPA-to-DHA ratio, the triglyceride versus ethyl ester form, and the GOED and IFOS quality testimony are the three parameters that drive brand selection.
