01 — Overview

Description

A concentrated form of alpha-linolenic acid, the plant-source omega-3 fatty acid, produced by molecular distillation or urea complexation of perilla, flaxseed, or chia seed oil.

Pale yellow to yellow clear oil. Supplied as free fatty acid, ethyl ester, or triglyceride form depending on application and downstream processing requirements.

We supply food-grade and supplement-grade ALA Concentrate from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include ALA 50% TG, ALA 60% TG, ALA 70% EE (ethyl ester), and ALA 90% FFA used in pharmaceutical and high-dose nutraceutical applications. Source material is typically perilla oil for the highest natural starting concentration.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering ALA assay, full fatty acid profile, peroxide and anisidine values, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Alpha-linolenic acid is the parent omega-3 fatty acid, an essential nutrient that the human body cannot synthesize and must obtain from diet. It is converted in the body to EPA and DHA, the long-chain omega-3s, though conversion efficiency is limited and varies considerably between individuals.

Source materials for ALA concentrate production include perilla seed oil (50 to 60 percent ALA), flaxseed oil (50 to 55 percent), and chia seed oil (60 to 65 percent). Perilla is the dominant feedstock in Chinese production due to scale and cost.

Concentration to higher purity is achieved by urea complexation, in which urea selectively complexes saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, leaving the polyunsaturated ALA in the supernatant. Molecular distillation provides an alternative route preserving the triglyceride form.

ALA is recognized as essential by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and other major regulatory bodies. Recommended intake levels vary between 1.1 and 1.6 grams per day for adults.

Oxidative stability is low due to the three double bonds, requiring vigorous antioxidant protection and oxygen exclusion in production, encapsulation, and finished-product packaging.
