Description
A purine alkaloid found in kucha tea (Camellia assamica var. kucha) and a few other plant species. Structurally related to caffeine but with markedly different pharmacokinetics, slower tolerance development, and a longer duration of action.
Off-white to pale tan crystalline powder. Used as a caffeine adjunct or stand-alone stimulant ingredient in modern pre-workout and nootropic formulations.
We supply food-grade Theacrine from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production. Produced by chemical synthesis to pharmaceutical-grade purity.
Common market grades include synthetic Theacrine 98%, kucha tea extracts standardized to Theacrine content, and pre-blended Theacrine-caffeine systems with set stimulant ratios.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, caffeine and methylxanthine impurities, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
Theacrine occurs naturally in the leaves of kucha, a wild Camellia variety found in southern China. It was identified as a primary purine in the plant in the 1930s and explored pharmacologically beginning in the 2000s.
The molecule shares structural features with caffeine but exhibits distinct receptor binding: Theacrine binds adenosine A1 and A2A receptors with different kinetics and shows additional activity at dopaminergic pathways. Clinical work has shown stimulant and cognitive-performance effects with substantially lower tolerance development across a 7-day repeat-dosing period compared to caffeine.
The branded TeaCrine product, supplied by Compound Solutions, established Theacrine in the U.S. supplement market in the mid-2010s. Generic Chinese supply followed and now provides competitive cost positioning for both stand-alone and pre-blended formats.
Typical adult dosing ranges from 100 mg to 300 mg per serving. Onset is slower than caffeine and duration extends to 6 to 8 hours, which suits applications where a sustained energy curve is preferable to a rapid peak.
