Description
The hydrochloride salt form of L-Lysine, the second-highest-volume amino acid produced commercially globally. The dominant form for animal feed fortification, where lysine is the most-limiting amino acid in corn-soy diets across all major livestock species.
White or almost white crystalline powder. Highly water-soluble. The HCl salt is preferred for feed and pharmaceutical applications due to handling stability and consistent assay.
We supply feed-grade, food-grade, and pharmaceutical-grade L-Lysine HCl from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Feed Grade 98.5 percent (the dominant volume application), Food Grade FCC compliant, Pharmaceutical Grade meeting BP/USP/EP/JP specifications, Lysine Sulfate (alternative feed-grade salt with sulfur contribution), and pre-blended Lysine with other amino acids for premix manufacturing.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, specific rotation, chloride content, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
L-Lysine is an essential amino acid that humans and most livestock species cannot synthesize and must obtain from dietary protein. The amino acid is the most-limiting nutrient in corn-soy diets that dominate global livestock production, making industrial lysine fortification essential for cost-effective poultry, swine, and aquaculture nutrition.
Industrial production proceeds by submerged aerobic fermentation using engineered Corynebacterium glutamicum strains on glucose feedstock, yielding lysine in fermentation broth that is purified through ion exchange and crystallization. China dominates global production with over 50 percent market share.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide. Listed in BP, USP, EP, and JP pharmacopoeias.
Annual global lysine production exceeds 3 million tonnes, ranking second among amino acids only to L-glutamic acid (MSG). The animal feed application accounts for over 95 percent of total volume; human supplement and pharmaceutical applications account for the balance.
Strategic positioning is dominated by animal feed at industrial scale, with the supplement and pharmaceutical applications representing meaningful but much smaller volumes at higher unit value.
Where it is used
- Animal feed: poultry, swine, aquaculture, and dairy fortification; the dominant single application by a wide margin (lysine is the most-limiting amino acid in corn-soy diets)
- Pharmaceutical applications: parenteral nutrition, clinical nutrition formulas
- Dietary supplements: cold-sore and herpes-support positioned formulations
- Infant formula and clinical nutrition fortification
- Collagen-support and beauty supplement formulations
- Pet food fortification
- Cosmetic skincare applications
