Description
The free-base form of L-Lysine, distinct from the dominant hydrochloride salt (catalog id 8016) by absence of the chloride counter-ion. Used in applications where the chloride contribution would be problematic, including some pharmaceutical and supplement formulations.
White to almost white crystalline powder. Hygroscopic; requires sealed protected packaging. Higher Lysine content by mass (100 percent versus approximately 80 percent for HCl form) makes it preferred for applications where premium positioning matters.
We supply food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade L-Lysine Free Base from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Standard Food Grade, Pharmaceutical Grade meeting BP/USP/EP specifications, and pre-blended Lysine Free Base with other amino acids for premium supplement applications.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, specific rotation, related amino acids, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
This SKU is the free-base form of L-Lysine, distinct from the dominant L-Lysine Monohydrochloride (catalog id 8016) by absence of the chloride counter-ion.
Production starts with fermentation-derived L-Lysine HCl, which is then ion-exchanged or alkaline-precipitated to yield the free base form. Additional purification and crystallization controls produce a pharmaceutical-grade product.
Regulatory status follows that of L-Lysine HCl (GRAS in the U.S., approved globally, listed in major pharmacopoeias).
The free base form is selected for applications where chloride contribution would interact unfavorably with other formulation components, or where premium positioning justifies the cost premium over the HCl salt. Lysine content by mass is 100 percent versus approximately 80 percent for the HCl salt, providing a labeling advantage in some supplement applications.
Strategic positioning serves the specialty pharmaceutical and premium supplement segments. Cost is meaningfully higher than the HCl salt, limiting volume use to applications where the free-base form delivers specific functional or positioning advantages.
Where it is used

- Pharmaceutical applications requiring chloride-free Lysine
- Specialty pet food and pet supplement applications
- Cosmetic and personal-care formulations
