01 — Overview

Description

A conditionally essential amino acid and the precursor for dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, thyroid hormones, and melanin. Used in sports nutrition, cognitive-support supplements, pharmaceutical formulations, and infant nutrition.

White crystalline powder. Limited water solubility (approximately 0.5 g/L at 25 °C, increasing in acidic or basic solution).

We supply food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade L-Tyrosine from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include Standard Food Grade (FCC compliant 98 percent purity), Pharmaceutical Grade meeting BP/USP/EP/JP specifications (99 percent purity), and N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine for premium supplement applications requiring superior solubility.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, specific rotation, related amino acids, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

L-Tyrosine is a conditionally essential amino acid that the body produces from L-phenylalanine, but which becomes essential when phenylalanine intake is restricted (as in phenylketonuria management) or when stress depletes endogenous tyrosine production.

Industrial production proceeds by fermentation using engineered Escherichia coli or Corynebacterium glutamicum strains, the dominant route for the natural L-enantiomer. Chemical synthesis from phenol is technically possible but commercially uncompetitive.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide. Listed in BP, USP, EP, and JP pharmacopoeias.

The molecule's role as precursor to catecholamine neurotransmitters (dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine) underpins its supplement positioning for cognitive support and stress resilience. Clinical evidence for these claims in non-deficient populations is mixed; supplement use is driven primarily by consumer interest in cognitive-performance positioning.

Strategic positioning combines pharmaceutical applications (PKU management is the highest-priority clinical use), dietary supplements (the fastest-growing segment), and infant formula fortification.
