Description

Spray-dried black tea extract designed for instant iced tea preparation, concentrating the characteristic flavor, color, and caffeine content of brewed black tea into a soluble dry powder.

Light brown to reddish-brown free-flowing powder with characteristic tea aroma. Dissolves rapidly in cold water for immediate beverage preparation without brewing time.

Introduction

Iced tea is among the largest beverage categories globally, with the United States and Southeast Asia leading per-capita consumption.

Production of iced tea concentrate involves hot-water extraction of black tea leaves followed by concentration and spray-drying. Cold-soluble grades are produced through specialized processing that prevents the protein-polyphenol complex formation responsible for tea cream haze in cold solutions.

The caffeine content can be standardized through blending or removed through supercritical carbon dioxide extraction for decaffeinated grades. Both grades retain the characteristic polyphenol-driven antioxidant profile of black tea.

Flavored variants including lemon, peach, and raspberry are typically produced by spray-drying the tea extract together with natural fruit juice powders and flavors, simplifying use in instant mix applications.
