01 — Overview

Description

Steam-distilled essential oil of Cinnamomum cassia (Chinese cinnamon) bark, standardized to cinnamaldehyde content. Phytogenic feed additive used for palatability enhancement, intestinal microbiota modulation, and antimicrobial action against Gram-positive pathogens.

Yellow to reddish-brown liquid with a strong characteristic cinnamon aroma. Available adsorbed onto carriers or microencapsulated for pelleted feed compatibility.

We supply feed-grade Cinnamon Oil from manufacturers in China holding ISO, FAMI-QS, and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 100 percent steam-distilled liquid (cinnamaldehyde 75 to 90 percent), powdered 10 percent and 20 percent on carrier, and microencapsulated 10 percent for premix use.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering cinnamaldehyde content, eugenol content, density, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Cinnamaldehyde is an alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehyde with broad-spectrum antimicrobial action and significant insulin-mimetic activity. In feed it acts both as a phytogenic antimicrobial and as a digestive secretion stimulant, increasing pancreatic enzyme output and bile flow.

Cinnamomum cassia bark oil from southern China and Vietnam is the dominant feed-grade source globally. The related species Cinnamomum verum (Ceylon cinnamon) is used in food and beverage applications but is more expensive and lower in cinnamaldehyde, so cassia is the typical feed source.

Encapsulation matters for cinnamaldehyde even more than for carvacrol because the aldehyde is reactive and can interact with feed proteins and amino acids if added uncoated to wet or hot feed streams. Microencapsulated formats deliver the active intact to the intestinal target.

Approved as a feed flavoring in the EU and most major livestock markets, and widely used as a phytogenic in antibiotic-free production programs.

03 — Applications

Where it is used

  • Piglet weaner feeds for palatability and gut microbial modulation
  • Broiler and layer feeds in phytogenic blends
  • Calf milk replacers and starter feeds
  • Aquaculture feeds (shrimp, tilapia, finfish)
  • Antibiotic-alternative gut health programs
  • Companion animal diets for digestive support
  • Component of phytogenic blends combined with oregano, thyme, and capsaicin
  • Feed flavoring and aroma masking in protein-based diets
