01 — Overview

Description

An extract from minimally processed Camellia sinensis white tea (young leaf buds dried without fermentation or pan-firing). Distinct from green tea and black tea extracts. The minimal processing preserves a characteristic polyphenol profile with high EGCG and methylxanthine content alongside lower oxidation products than green tea.

Pale yellow to light tan free-flowing powder. Highly water-soluble.

02 — Background

Introduction

White tea is produced from young Camellia sinensis leaf buds and adjacent leaves, dried with minimal processing (no fermentation, no pan-firing). The resulting tea is among the highest in EGCG and total catechins among commercial tea types and retains a distinctive flavor profile.

Industrial production of the extract proceeds by hot-water extraction of dried white tea, followed by concentration, decaffeination (optional), and spray-drying. Premium grades use selected single-origin material from Fujian and other premium tea-producing regions.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient in essentially all jurisdictions; tea is a long-established food.

Strategic positioning emphasizes premium cosmetic and beauty applications where the white tea provenance is a strong marketing position, alongside premium supplement and beverage uses. The premium positioning supports prices meaningfully above green tea extract for comparable EGCG content.
