01 — Overview

Description

A high-purity soluble corn fiber produced by controlled enzymatic conversion of corn starch, also marketed under names including Vita Fiber, IMO, and isomalto-oligosaccharide-derived fiber. Total dietary fiber typically 70 to 90 percent measured by AOAC 2009.01 or 2011.25.

Soluble fiber composed of alpha-(1,6) and alpha-(1,4) linked glucose oligomers, with branching density and chain length controlled to deliver consistent fiber content while retaining mild sweetness (approximately 30 to 50 percent of sucrose) and excellent processing stability.

White to off-white free-flowing powder or 75 percent solids syrup. Highly water-soluble. Low viscosity in solution, supporting beverage and clear-formula use. Excellent heat and acid stability.

We supply food-grade Vita Fiber from manufacturers in China holding ISO, HACCP, Halal, Kosher, and Non-GMO Project certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 70 percent and 90 percent TDF powders, 75 percent solids syrup, and low-DE specialty grades for bar and confectionery use.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering fiber content (AOAC 2009.01), residual sugars, moisture, ash, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Vita Fiber is a soluble corn fiber produced by enzymatic conversion of corn starch using alpha-amylase, transglucosidase, and related enzymes that introduce alpha-(1,6) branching to yield a slowly digestible to non-digestible oligosaccharide. The ingredient family overlaps technically with isomalto-oligosaccharide (IMO) and with branched soluble corn fibers from major U.S. and European producers.

Regulatory positioning in the dietary-fiber category has been the defining commercial battleground for the ingredient family. The U.S. FDA evaluated multiple petitions following the 2016 Nutrition Facts rule, ultimately recognizing several soluble corn fiber products as dietary fibers based on demonstrated physiological benefits including post-prandial glucose response and bone mineralization in published clinical trials. Manufacturer-specific regulatory letters are the basis for current U.S. fiber labeling.

The EU permits dietary-fiber labeling under Regulation 1169/2011 provided AOAC fiber methods are applied. Canada has recognized several soluble corn fiber products as dietary fiber following individual reviews. China's NHC permits use in food categories.

Strategic positioning rests on cost per gram of fiber (substantially below inulin and GOS), neutral taste profile, and superior processing stability versus FOS in low-pH and high-heat applications. The principal competitive constraints are the manufacturer-specific regulatory letters, which mean not every soluble corn fiber product is automatically eligible for fiber labeling in every jurisdiction. Selection across suppliers turns on the fiber-recognition letters held, AOAC method specification, and the molecular profile of the specific grade.
