Description
A pure C10 (capric acid) triglyceride, the second principal medium-chain triglyceride after C8. Produced by esterification of glycerol with capric acid fractionated from coconut or palm kernel oil.
Colorless to very pale yellow clear oil. Liquid at room temperature with slightly higher viscosity than C8. Mild characteristic odor.
We supply food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade MCT C10 from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include MCT C10 95% min (standard premium grade), MCT C10 98% min (ultra-pure for specialty applications), and pharmaceutical-grade material meeting USP and EP monographs.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering fatty acid profile, acid and peroxide values, moisture, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
Capric acid is the C10 saturated fatty acid, the second most abundant medium-chain fatty acid in coconut and palm kernel oils after lauric acid. Pure C10 triglyceride produces ketone bodies more slowly than C8 but over a longer duration, giving it a distinct metabolic profile.
Production parallels C8 manufacturing: coconut or palm kernel oil is hydrolyzed, the C10 fraction is separated by fractional distillation, and the purified capric acid is re-esterified with glycerol to produce capric triglyceride at 95 to 98 percent purity.
MCT C10 is recognized as safe in major food regulatory systems and listed in USP, EP, and JP pharmacopoeias.
Beyond metabolic applications, C10 has documented antimicrobial activity through its monoglyceride metabolite monocaprin, which forms the basis of some functional food and cosmetic applications.
Oxidative stability is excellent due to the fully saturated structure, supporting long shelf life and broad processing compatibility.
Where it is used
- Ketogenic supplements where slower-onset, longer-duration ketone production is preferred
- Sports nutrition for sustained energy formulations
- Combination MCT products with defined C8:C10 ratios
- Cosmetic emollient applications, particularly lightweight skin and hair products
- Pharmaceutical excipient applications for lipid-based formulations
- Functional food fortification in keto bars and snack products
- Antimicrobial functional applications based on monocaprin metabolites
