Description
The standardized extract of Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) seeds, containing steroidal saponins (principally furostanol saponins including diosgenin precursors) and 4-hydroxyisoleucine as the principal active markers. Used in sports nutrition, blood-sugar-support, and lactation-support dietary supplements globally.
Yellow-brown to dark brown free-flowing powder with characteristic maple-syrup-like aroma. Limited water solubility for the saponin fraction; freely soluble in alcohol.
We supply food-grade Fenugreek Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include 20 percent Saponins (cost-effective baseline), 40 percent Saponins (standard supplement grade), 50 percent Saponins (premium grade), 60 percent Saponins (high-end grade), 4-Hydroxyisoleucine 20 percent (the diabetes-support standardized grade), and Patent-positioned premium grades including Testofen.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering saponins content (UV), 4-hydroxyisoleucine (HPLC), residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.
Introduction
Fenugreek has been used as both spice and medicine across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia for over 3,000 years. The seeds have a characteristic maple-syrup-like aroma that is also used as a natural flavor in artificial maple flavorings.
Industrial production proceeds by hot-water and ethanol extraction of defatted, dehulled Fenugreek seeds, followed by purification and standardization to defined saponins or 4-hydroxyisoleucine content.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA (GRAS), the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide.
Clinical evidence supports multiple distinct positioning angles. The saponin fraction has documented testosterone-support effects in clinical trials of healthy men, the 4-hydroxyisoleucine fraction has documented insulinotropic effects supporting blood-sugar applications, and the soluble fiber content (galactomannans) supports both glucose and cholesterol management.
Strategic positioning is split across multiple growing supplement segments: sports nutrition and male-support (the premium positioning), blood-sugar-management (the largest volume application), and lactation-support (a niche but well-established traditional application).
Where it is used
- Sports nutrition: testosterone-support and male-enhancement positioning
- Blood-sugar-management dietary supplements (the 4-hydroxyisoleucine content supports glucose-metabolism positioning)
- Lactation-support supplements for breastfeeding women
- Women's-health combination supplement formulations
- Functional foods: Fenugreek-positioned protein bars and supplements
- Traditional Ayurvedic medicine: methi formulations
- Traditional Middle Eastern medicine product formulations
- Pharmaceutical research applications
