Introduction
Dry Vitamin D3 Powder is the spray-dried powder format used across food fortification and supplement manufacturing globally. The format provides shelf-stable Vitamin D3 in a free-flowing powder that can be incorporated into dry blends without specialized handling equipment.
Production starts with Vitamin D3 oil concentrate, mixed with food-grade gelatin or modified starch under controlled conditions, atomized through a spray dryer, and dried to defined moisture content. The resulting powder consists of microscopic carrier beadlets each containing Vitamin D3 stabilized against oxidation.
Regulatory status follows that of pharmaceutical-grade Vitamin D3 (GRAS in the U.S., approved by major regulators worldwide). Listed in BP, USP, EP, and JP pharmacopoeias.
The choice between 100,000 IU/g and 500,000 IU/g potency is application-driven: 100,000 IU/g is preferred for cereal fortification where 0.1 to 0.5 percent inclusion of premix delivers the target finished-product dose; 500,000 IU/g is preferred for supplement manufacturing where lower premix inclusion levels are needed.
Strategic positioning is the workhorse format for fortified-food and supplement manufacturing globally. Volume substantially exceeds the specialty oil, crystalline, and CWS formats.
