01 — Overview

Description

The standardized extract of Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) fruit, containing anthocyanins and their aglycone anthocyanidins as the principal active fraction. The 36 percent anthocyanidins grade matches the historical clinical specification used in eye-health and vascular-support research.

Dark purple to nearly black free-flowing powder. Highly water-soluble.

We supply food-grade Bilberry Anthocyanidins 36% from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 25 percent Anthocyanidins (cost-effective baseline), 36 percent Anthocyanidins (the clinical-standard supplement grade), and 25 percent Anthocyanins (the alternative European-standard grade based on the glycosylated form).

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering anthocyanidins content (UV), anthocyanins content (HPLC), residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Bilberry has been used in European traditional medicine since the Middle Ages for vision, digestive complaints, and vascular conditions. The compound's prominence in eye-health applications expanded substantially during World War II following anecdotal reports of improved night vision among British Royal Air Force pilots consuming bilberry jam.

Industrial production proceeds by ethanol extraction of dried bilberry fruit, followed by purification and standardization to defined anthocyanidins or anthocyanins content.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide.

The anthocyanin polyphenols have documented antioxidant and capillary-stabilizing activities. Clinical evidence for eye-health applications is mixed, with reasonably consistent support for vascular-permeability endpoints and more debated support for visual-acuity endpoints.

Strategic positioning is dominated by eye-health dietary supplements globally, often formulated alongside Lutein and Zeaxanthin in comprehensive vision-support products.
