Description
Premium gum arabic from Acacia seyal (also called talha gum), a lower-protein, higher-nitrogen variant of acacia gum sourced primarily from the same Sahel region. Distinct from senegal in emulsification performance but cost-effective for many fiber-fortification and clean-label applications.
Reddish-brown to amber free-flowing powder or pre-hydrated granules. Cold-water soluble; lower viscosity than senegal at equivalent concentration.
We supply Acacia Seyal Premium from China-based processing partners with cross-border sourcing from Sudan, Chad, and Eritrea, holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include spray-dried powder and mechanical kibbled material. The optical rotation is positive (versus negative for senegal), an important authenticity marker.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering protein content, optical rotation, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
Acacia seyal, locally known as talha in Sudan, is the second major commercial source of gum arabic alongside Acacia senegal. The two species share the same Sahel growing region and are often harvested by the same producer communities.
The chemical distinction between seyal and senegal is reflected in optical rotation (positive for seyal, negative for senegal) and protein content (lower for seyal at 1.0 to 2.0 percent versus 2.0 to 3.5 percent for senegal). These differences translate to weaker emulsification performance for seyal in beverage flavor applications.
For fiber-fortification, supplement, and confectionery applications where emulsification is not the limiting factor, seyal offers a cost-effective alternative. The 25 to 35 percent price discount versus senegal supports adoption in cost-sensitive segments.
Regulatory treatment is the same as senegal: both are recognized as E414 in the EU and as gum arabic by the U.S. FDA, with no Acceptable Daily Intake specified by JECFA.
Where it is used
- Soluble-fiber fortification of beverages and functional foods
- Confectionery applications where emulsification is less critical than in beverages
- Wine fining and beverage clarification
- Pharmaceutical excipient applications
- Cost-sensitive applications where senegal performance is not required
- Co-formulation with senegal for cost optimization
- Print-ink, textile, and technical applications
- Cosmetic and personal-care formulations
