Description
The stabilized disulfate tosylate salt of S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine (SAMe), a universal methyl donor central to dozens of biochemical methylation reactions in the body. Used in dietary supplements for mood support, joint health, and liver function.
Off-white to pale yellow crystalline powder. The salt form provides the shelf stability required for commercial supplement manufacturing; the underlying SAMe molecule is otherwise unstable and degrades rapidly.
We supply pharmaceutical-grade SAMe Disulfate Tosylate from manufacturers in China holding ISO and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Standard Supplement Grade (65 percent SAMe content minimum, 68 percent S,S-isomer minimum) and Pharmaceutical Grade with tighter isomer-purity and impurity specifications for clinical applications.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering total assay, SAMe content by HPLC, S,S-isomer content, loss on drying, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine (SAMe) is a naturally occurring compound formed in the body from the amino acid methionine and ATP. It serves as the universal methyl donor in dozens of biochemical reactions including neurotransmitter synthesis, phospholipid production, DNA methylation, and proteoglycan formation.
The free SAMe molecule is biochemically unstable, degrading rapidly at room temperature. Commercial production yields the disulfate tosylate salt, which stabilizes the active S,S-isomer for storage and use in finished supplement products.
Industrial production proceeds by fermentation using engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast strains, followed by extraction and conversion to the stabilized salt form. China is the dominant producer; product is also manufactured in Europe and Japan.
SAMe is sold as a dietary supplement in the United States and several other markets; in some European countries and Russia it is regulated as a prescription pharmaceutical for depression and liver disease. Clinical doses typically range from 200 to 1600 mg per day.
Strategic positioning combines premium mood-support supplements (the highest unit value), joint-health formulations (where SAMe has been studied for osteoarthritis), and liver-support products. The product commands a substantial price premium relative to commodity amino acids due to its complex production process.
