Description
An extract from partially oxidized Camellia sinensis oolong tea, intermediate between green tea (unfermented) and black tea (fully fermented). The partial oxidation yields a unique polyphenol profile containing both intact green tea catechins and partial oxidation products (oolonghomobisflavans, theasinensins).
Light brown to tan free-flowing powder. Highly water-soluble.
We supply food-grade Oolong Tea Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Oolong Tea 4:1 Powder (the beverage workhorse), 10:1 concentrate, 30 percent Polyphenols (standard grade), 50 percent Polyphenols (premium grade), and 90 percent Polyphenols (high-end concentrate). Specific oolonghomobisflavan-standardized grades target weight-management positioning.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering total polyphenols, total catechins, oolonghomobisflavans (where standardized), caffeine content, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.
Introduction
Oolong tea is partially oxidized Camellia sinensis tea, with oxidation levels ranging from approximately 10 to 80 percent depending on the specific style (Taiwanese high-mountain oolongs are lightly oxidized, Wuyi rock oolongs are heavily oxidized). The partial oxidation generates a complex polyphenol profile distinct from both green and black teas.
Industrial production proceeds by hot-water extraction of dried oolong tea, followed by concentration and spray-drying. Standardization targets total polyphenols, catechin content, or specific oolong-unique polyphenols depending on application.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient in essentially all jurisdictions.
The weight-management positioning is supported by substantial market history in Japan and Taiwan and by some clinical evidence for effects on energy expenditure and lipid oxidation. The 'Oolong tea for weight management' positioning was popularized in Japan during the 1990s and 2000s and remains a substantial commercial category.
Strategic positioning targets weight-management supplements and premium ready-to-drink tea applications.
