01 — Overview

Description

A pH- and enzyme-modified pectin" class="underline" style="color: var(--sage-deep); text-decoration-color: var(--sage-deep);">Citrus pectin product with reduced molecular weight (typically 5 to 50 kDa versus 100 to 500 kDa for native citrus pectin) and reduced esterification. The modification produces a soluble dietary fiber form claimed to be absorbed across the intestinal wall and to function systemically as a galectin-3 antagonist, distinguishing it from conventional native pectin used as a gelling agent.

Off-white to light tan free-flowing powder. Highly water-soluble (unlike native pectin which forms viscous solutions at elevated concentration).

We supply food-grade Modified Citrus Pectin from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Companion market grades include Native Citrus Pectin (the conventional gelling agent, distinct product), Standard Modified Citrus Pectin (the workhorse grade documented here), High-Purity MCP (premium grade with tighter molecular-weight distribution), and Patent-Positioned Premium Grades including PectaSol-equivalent specifications.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering galacturonic acid content, degree of esterification, molecular-weight distribution, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Modified Citrus Pectin was developed in the 1990s through systematic research aimed at producing a low-molecular-weight pectin derivative that could be absorbed across the intestinal wall to act systemically rather than only within the lumen. The standard product is produced from Citrus peel pectin through controlled enzymatic and pH-mediated depolymerization and de-esterification.

Industrial production proceeds by alkali- and enzyme-mediated modification of native citrus pectin, followed by ultrafiltration to remove residual high-molecular-weight fractions and spray-drying.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA (GRAS), the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide.

The compound is proposed to function as an antagonist of galectin-3, a galactoside-binding lectin implicated in multiple disease processes including cancer progression, fibrosis, and cardiovascular remodeling. Clinical evidence at supplement doses is mixed but supports applications in heavy-metal binding, prostate-specific antigen kinetics in cancer-survivor populations, and biomarkers of fibrosis.

Strategic positioning targets premium detoxification and immune-support supplement segments specifically, with the modified-pectin technology and galectin-3-antagonist mechanism supporting price premiums over conventional citrus pectin or generic fiber supplements.

03 — Applications

Where it is used

  • Detoxification and heavy-metal-binding dietary supplements (the leading commercial application)
  • Immune-support supplement formulations
  • Cancer-survivor support supplements (where galectin-3 antagonism is the proposed mechanism)
  • Cardiovascular-support supplement formulations
  • Premium gut-health and prebiotic-fiber supplements
  • Functional beverages and powdered drink mixes
  • Veterinary applications for senior animal support
  • Pharmaceutical research applications
