Introduction
L-Valine is one of the three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), essential amino acids that the body cannot synthesize. The BCAAs together account for approximately 35 percent of essential amino acids in muscle protein and play critical roles in muscle protein synthesis and energy metabolism during exercise.
Industrial production proceeds by submerged aerobic fermentation using engineered Corynebacterium glutamicum or Escherichia coli strains.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide. Listed in BP, USP, EP, and JP pharmacopoeias.
