Description
The synthetic racemic form of Aspartic Acid containing equal amounts of D and L enantiomers. Used in pharmaceutical and industrial applications where the natural L-enantiomer is not specifically required. Cost-effective alternative to L-Aspartic Acid for non-food and animal-feed uses.
White crystalline powder. Slightly water-soluble; freely soluble in acid or alkaline solutions.
We supply industrial-grade and feed-grade DL-Aspartic Acid from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Industrial Grade for chemical synthesis applications, Feed Grade for animal nutrition, and pre-blended DL-Aspartate systems for specific industrial uses.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, specific rotation (confirming racemic composition), heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
DL-Aspartic Acid is the racemic synthetic form, distinct from the natural L-enantiomer (catalog id 8005) by stereochemistry. Industrial production proceeds by chemical synthesis through ammonia addition to maleic acid, yielding the racemic mixture directly.
The DL form is approximately half the cost of L-Aspartic Acid because the chemical synthesis route is simpler and higher-yielding than the enzymatic route required for the pure L-enantiomer.
Regulatory status depends on application: not approved for direct food use as the racemic form (only L-Aspartic Acid is approved for human food); approved for industrial chemical synthesis and certain animal-feed applications in some markets.
Strategic positioning serves industrial chemical applications and specialty animal-feed uses where the racemic form is acceptable and the cost advantage over L-Aspartic Acid is meaningful.
Where it is used
- Industrial chemical synthesis: drug intermediates and specialty chemicals
- Animal feed: aquaculture applications where racemic form is acceptable
- Cosmetic and personal-care: specialty formulations
- Research and analytical applications
- Specialty polymer synthesis intermediates
- Mineral chelation in industrial applications
