Description
A flavonoid glycoside isolated from the root of Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis, huang qin in Traditional Chinese Medicine). Used in immune-support, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective dietary supplements and pharmaceutical formulations across China and increasingly globally.
Light yellow to brownish-yellow free-flowing powder. Limited water solubility (the aglycone baicalein has even lower solubility); both compounds are freely soluble in alkaline conditions.
We supply food-grade and pharmaceutical-grade Baicalin from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include 85 percent Baicalin (the standard supplement grade), 90 percent Baicalin (premium grade), 95 percent Baicalin (high-end grade meeting Chinese Pharmacopoeia specifications), and 98 percent Baicalin (pharmaceutical-grade isolated compound). The aglycone Baicalein is offered separately at equivalent purities.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering baicalin content (HPLC), baicalein content, wogonin content, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.
Introduction
Baikal Skullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis, huang qin) is a perennial herb native to East Asia with documented medicinal use in China for over 2,000 years. The compound is among the most-studied Chinese medicinal herb actives, with extensive Chinese-language pharmacology literature and growing English-language clinical and preclinical research.
Industrial production proceeds by hot-water extraction of dried Baikal Skullcap roots, followed by acid precipitation of crude baicalin, recrystallization, and purification to defined content. Premium pharmaceutical-grade material is produced through additional chromatographic purification.
Listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia as a pharmaceutical product. Recognized as a permitted food ingredient in China and several Asian markets; sold as a dietary supplement in the U.S. and many other markets.
Pharmacological characterization includes documented antiviral activity (notable research on SARS-CoV-2 and other viral pathogens), hepatoprotective effects, anti-inflammatory action through multiple pathways, and emerging oncology research. The compound is among the leading candidate plant-derived actives in modern Traditional Chinese Medicine commercialization.
Strategic positioning targets immune-support and anti-inflammatory dietary supplements globally, with established pharmaceutical applications in Chinese Traditional Medicine and growing research and development applications.
