Description
A cycloartane-type triterpenoid saponin isolated from the root of Astragalus membranaceus (huang qi), the principal pharmacopoeial marker compound for astragalus and the active most associated with the herb's immune-modulating and telomerase-activating research.
White to off-white crystalline powder. Limited water solubility; freely soluble in methanol, ethanol, and dimethyl sulfoxide.
We supply food-grade Astragaloside IV from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Astragaloside IV 98 percent (the dominant pharmaceutical-grade isolated compound), Astragaloside IV 50 percent and 90 percent (intermediate purification grades), and standardized Astragalus extracts at 0.3 percent, 1 percent, 5 percent, and 10 percent astragaloside IV (for supplement applications where the isolated compound is cost-prohibitive).
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering astragaloside IV content (HPLC), related saponins, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
Astragalus membranaceus has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 2,000 years as a fundamental qi tonic. Modern phytochemical investigation identified astragaloside IV as the principal saponin marker, and the compound has been adopted as the pharmacopoeial standard for both Chinese Pharmacopoeia astragalus monographs and most international quality specifications.
Industrial production proceeds by hot-water and ethanol extraction of dried astragalus root, followed by extensive chromatographic purification to yield astragaloside IV at 98 percent purity. Yields are low (typically below 0.1 percent of dried root), which sets the high commercial price.
Recognized as a permitted ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority (under specific conditions), and equivalent regulators worldwide. Listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
Commercial interest accelerated following research suggesting astragaloside IV can transiently activate telomerase in certain cell types, leading to a premium segment of telomerase-activator supplements. Pharmaceutical research continues for cardiovascular, renal-protective, and pulmonary applications.
Strategic positioning targets the premium longevity supplement segment and high-end immune-support formulations where the isolated compound's price is supportable.
