Description
Steam-distilled essential oil from fresh or dried Zingiber officinale rhizomes, capturing the aromatic terpenoid and gingerol fraction of ginger root. Used for ginger flavor and aroma in beverages, confectionery, and cosmetic applications.
Pale yellow to amber liquid with characteristic warm, spicy ginger aroma. Soluble in alcohol and oils; not soluble in water. Standardized to a defined zingiberene and α-zingiberene profile by GC-MS.
We supply food-grade Aroma Ginger Oil from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include Standard Steam-Distilled Ginger Oil, Fresh Rhizome Distilled (premium aroma profile from fresh-rhizome distillation), and CO2-Extracted Ginger Oil (alternative extraction yielding fuller-spectrum compound profile including gingerols).
Bulk shipments in steel drums and IBC totes. Batch-level COA covering specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation, GC-MS profile (zingiberene, β-bisabolene, α-curcumene), and heavy metals.
Introduction
Aroma Ginger Oil is the steam-distilled essential oil fraction of ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale). The oil captures the volatile terpenoid compounds responsible for ginger's characteristic aroma, principally zingiberene (20 to 30 percent), β-bisabolene, α-curcumene, and α-farnesene.
Industrial production proceeds by hydrodistillation or steam distillation of fresh or dried ginger rhizomes, typically yielding 1 to 3 percent of rhizome weight as essential oil. The non-volatile pungent compounds (gingerols and shogaols) remain in the post-distillation residue and are recovered separately as oleoresin.
Recognized as a permitted food flavoring ingredient by the U.S. FDA (GRAS), the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide. JECFA-approved without a numerical Acceptable Daily Intake.
The oil delivers ginger's aromatic character without the sharp pungency of fresh ginger root, which is why beverage and confectionery applications typically use the essential oil rather than ginger oleoresin or fresh ginger extract. The two products are complementary rather than substitutes: oil delivers aroma; oleoresin delivers pungent heat.
Strategic positioning serves beverage and confectionery applications globally. Premium ginger ale brands and natural-positioning ginger products use this oil at 0.005 to 0.05 percent concentration to deliver characteristic ginger aroma without the formulation complexity of including ginger root or oleoresin directly.
