01 — Overview

Description

A natural Vitamin C source extracted from the Acerola cherry (Malpighia emarginata), one of the highest natural concentrations of Vitamin C among fruits (approximately 30 times higher than oranges). Used as a clean-label natural Vitamin C source in supplements and fortified foods.

Light pink to brown free-flowing powder. The natural Vitamin C is accompanied by bioflavonoids that some research suggests improve absorption and provide synergistic antioxidant activity.

We supply food-grade Acerola Cherry Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production. Organic-certified and non-GMO grades are available.

Common market grades include 17 percent Vitamin C (standard supplement grade), 25 percent Vitamin C (premium grade), 30 percent Vitamin C (high-end grade), and Spray-Dried Acerola Juice Powder (lower-Vitamin-C-content food-fortification grade).

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering Vitamin C content (HPLC), total bioflavonoids, anthocyanins, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Acerola is a small red fruit native to the Caribbean and northern South America. The fruit is among the highest natural sources of Vitamin C, with fresh acerola containing 1500 to 4500 mg Vitamin C per 100 grams (versus approximately 50 mg per 100 grams for oranges).

Industrial production proceeds by hot-water or fresh-juice spray-drying of ripe acerola fruit, with optional concentration steps to elevate Vitamin C content to defined supplement grades.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA (GRAS), the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide.

The natural Vitamin C in acerola is identical to synthetic Ascorbic Acid at the molecular level, but consumer perception of natural-source Vitamin C combined with the accompanying bioflavonoids supports premium positioning over synthetic Vitamin C. Cost per mg Vitamin C is meaningfully higher than synthetic Ascorbic Acid, limiting use to premium and clean-label applications.

Strategic positioning targets premium dietary supplements and clean-label fortified foods where natural-source claim is part of the value proposition.
