01 — Overview

Description

The standardized extract of Panax notoginseng (san qi, tienchi ginseng), a distinct ginseng species native to southwestern China. Standardized to total notoginsenosides (principally R1, Rg1, and Rb1) as the active fraction. Used in cardiovascular-support supplements and traditional Chinese medicine formulations.

Yellow-brown to pale brown free-flowing powder. Limited water solubility; freely soluble in alcohol.

We supply food-grade Notoginseng Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 20 percent Notoginsenosides (the standard supplement grade), 40 percent Notoginsenosides (premium grade), 80 percent Notoginsenosides (high-end pharmaceutical-feedstock grade), and Pure Notoginsenoside R1 (HPLC-reference and pharmaceutical isolate grade).

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering total notoginsenosides (HPLC), R1 content, Rg1 content, Rb1 content, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Notoginseng (Panax notoginseng) has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 600 years for trauma, bleeding, and circulatory complaints. The species is botanically distinct from Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) and American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius), with a different saponin profile dominated by notoginsenosides rather than the ginsenoside Rg1/Rb1 ratio typical of those species.

Industrial production proceeds by ethanol or hydroalcoholic extraction of dried roots, followed by purification and standardization to defined notoginsenoside content. The root is principally cultivated in Yunnan province, China.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient in China and many Asian markets; sold as a dietary supplement in the U.S. and most other markets.

Notoginsenoside R1 is the marker compound that distinguishes Panax notoginseng from other Panax species in pharmacopoeial testing. The compound class has documented effects on platelet function, microcirculation, and vascular endothelial protection, supporting the cardiovascular-support positioning.

Strategic positioning is dominated by cardiovascular and circulation-support applications, with significant pharmaceutical use in China through approved injectable products and oral preparations.
