An extract from the pericarp (rind) of Mangosteen fruit (Garcinia mangostana), standardized to alpha-mangostin content. The Mangosteen pericarp contains a characteristic family of xanthones (alpha-, beta-, and gamma-mangostin) not found in significant amounts in other commercial fruits, supporting differentiated supplement positioning.
Light brown to dark brown free-flowing powder. Limited water solubility; freely soluble in alcohol and oils.

Introduction
Mangosteen is a tropical evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia, with the fruit known historically as the queen of fruits in regional cultures. The pericarp (typically discarded as juice-industry waste) is the principal source of the characteristic xanthones, which have been the subject of extensive pharmacological research.
Industrial production proceeds by ethanol or hydroalcoholic extraction of dried Mangosteen pericarp, followed by chromatographic purification and concentration to defined alpha-mangostin content.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators worldwide. Approved as a Novel Food in the EU under specific authorization.
Alpha-mangostin has been the subject of substantial cell-culture and animal research suggesting anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial activity. Human clinical evidence is more limited but supports applications in inflammatory and metabolic markers at supplement doses.
