Description
The standardized extract of Lonicera japonica flower buds (jin yin hua, honeysuckle), standardized to chlorogenic acid content as the principal marker. Used in immune-support supplements and as a natural antimicrobial ingredient in functional food and cosmetic applications.
Yellow-brown to brown free-flowing powder. Highly water-soluble.
We supply food-grade Honeysuckle Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include 4:1 to 20:1 herb-to-extract ratios (standard grades), 5 percent Chlorogenic Acid (the standardized supplement grade), 10 percent Chlorogenic Acid (premium grade), and 25 percent Chlorogenic Acid (high-end concentrated grade). The extract is among the highest natural sources of chlorogenic acid alongside green coffee bean.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering chlorogenic acid content (HPLC), total polyphenols, luteolin content, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.
Introduction
Honeysuckle (jin yin hua) has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 1,500 years as a heat-clearing and toxin-resolving herb. The flower buds are the most commonly used part, harvested before opening for highest chlorogenic acid content.
Industrial production proceeds by hot-water or hydroethanolic extraction of dried flower buds, followed by purification and standardization to defined chlorogenic acid content.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient in China, the U.S. (GRAS), and most international markets.
Modern research has confirmed antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory activities for honeysuckle extract. The herb is a principal ingredient in Shuang Huang Lian, one of China's most-used antiviral TCM formulas, and in Yin Qiao San for the early stages of upper respiratory infections.
Strategic positioning combines Traditional Chinese Medicine formula applications (the dominant volume use globally), modern immune-support supplements in Western markets, and use as an industrial chlorogenic acid source where green coffee bean material is unsuitable.
Where it is used
- Immune-support and cold-and-flu dietary supplement formulations (the dominant traditional application)
- Anti-inflammatory and heat-clearing supplements in TCM and Asian markets
- Functional beverages including herbal teas and immune-support wellness drinks
- Natural antimicrobial in cosmetic skincare formulations
- Traditional Chinese Medicine: jin yin hua decoctions and modern granule formats including Yin Qiao San and Shuang Huang Lian
- Premium oral-care formulations
- Source material for chlorogenic acid isolate production
