Description
A natural caffeine source extracted from Guarana seeds (Paullinia cupana), a climbing plant native to the Amazon basin. Standardized to defined caffeine content (typically 10 to 22 percent), the highest natural caffeine concentration of any commercial plant material.
Light brown to reddish-brown free-flowing powder. Partial water solubility; the caffeine fraction is freely water-soluble.
We supply food-grade Guarana Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.
Common market grades include 10 percent Caffeine (whole-seed standard grade), 20 percent Caffeine (the workhorse supplement and energy-drink grade), 22 percent Caffeine (premium grade), and Guarana Seed Powder (unstandardized whole-seed format at typically 4 to 6 percent caffeine).
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering caffeine content (HPLC), tannins, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.
Introduction
Guarana has been used by indigenous Amazonian peoples for centuries as a stimulant and ceremonial drink. The seeds contain caffeine at concentrations roughly four times higher than coffee beans by weight, with the caffeine bound to tannins that slow gastrointestinal release relative to synthetic caffeine.
Industrial production proceeds by ethanol or hydroalcoholic extraction of dried Guarana seeds, followed by concentration and spray-drying to defined caffeine content. Higher-concentration grades require additional purification steps.
Recognized as a permitted food ingredient by the U.S. FDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and equivalent regulators. Caffeine itself is subject to use-level limits in beverages in several jurisdictions.
Clinical evidence supports Guarana caffeine for short-term cognitive performance, alertness, and exercise performance at appropriate doses, with effects broadly comparable to equivalent doses of synthetic caffeine. The tannin-bound profile is sometimes claimed to produce a smoother caffeine release, with limited rigorous evidence.
Strategic positioning targets the natural-positioning energy drink market (the largest commercial application by volume), sports nutrition, and weight-management supplements.
