Yellow-brown to brown free-flowing powder. Highly water-soluble.

We supply food-grade Forsythia Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production.

Common market grades include 4:1 to 20:1 herb-to-extract ratios (standard grades), 5 percent Forsythoside A (standardized supplement grade), 10 percent Forsythoside A (premium grade), and 98 percent Pure Phillyrin (pharmaceutical-grade isolate).

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering forsythoside A (HPLC), phillyrin (HPLC), total lignans, residual solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Forsythia (lian qiao) has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 1,500 years as a heat-clearing and toxin-resolving herb, almost always paired with Honeysuckle in classical formulas. The two herbs together (jin yin hua and lian qiao) form the conceptual backbone of TCM antiviral and immune-support formulas.

Industrial production proceeds by ethanol or hydroalcoholic extraction of dried Forsythia fruit, followed by purification and standardization to defined forsythoside or phillyrin content.

Recognized as a permitted food ingredient in China and most Asian markets; sold as a dietary supplement in the U.S. and most other markets.

Modern research has identified antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory activities for the Forsythia compound class. Forsythoside A and phillyrin are the principal pharmacopoeial marker compounds. The herb is most commonly used in classical combination formulas rather than as a standalone supplement.

Strategic positioning is dominated by Traditional Chinese Medicine formula applications, with growing modern immune-support supplement use leveraging the same active-compound profile.
