01 — Overview

Description

An extract from chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) standardized for protein, soluble fiber, and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) omega-3 content. Used in superfood-positioned dietary supplements, functional foods, and clean-label fortification applications.

Light brown to brown free-flowing powder. Partially water-soluble depending on grade; defatted protein-concentrate grades are more soluble than whole-seed powders.

We supply food-grade Chia Seed Extract from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production. Organic-certified and non-GMO grades are available.

Common market grades include Whole Chia Seed Powder (10:1 baseline), Chia Protein Concentrate 50 percent Protein, Chia Soluble Fiber 70 percent, and Defatted Chia Powder for protein-fortification applications.

Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering protein content, soluble fiber content, ALA omega-3 content, residual solvents, heavy metals, and microbiology.

02 — Background

Introduction

Chia seeds were a staple food in ancient Aztec and Mayan civilizations and emerged as a modern superfood category leader in the 2000s. The seeds contain among the highest plant-based concentrations of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) omega-3 fatty acid and substantial soluble fiber.

Industrial production proceeds by cold-pressing or solvent extraction of dried chia seeds, with the residue then milled and standardized to defined protein, fiber, or ALA content depending on the target grade.

Classified as a Novel Food in the EU (approved 2009) and Generally Recognized as Safe by the U.S. FDA. Approved as a food ingredient in most major markets worldwide.

The functional properties of chia (gel-forming capacity from soluble fiber, ALA omega-3 content, complete amino-acid profile) support diverse applications in functional foods and dietary supplements.

Strategic positioning combines superfood dietary supplements, functional food fortification, and plant-based protein applications in vegan and clean-label brands.
