Description
Controlled enzymatic hydrolysate of chondroitin sulfate, processed to reduce molecular weight to the oligosaccharide range (typically 2,000 to 6,000 daltons) for enhanced intestinal absorption relative to the parent polymer.
White to off-white free-flowing powder, highly water-soluble. Used as a premium-positioning alternative to standard chondroitin sulfate in pet joint-support supplements where bioavailability claims drive product differentiation.
We supply pet-grade Chondroitin Sulfate Oligosaccharide from manufacturers in China holding ISO, Halal, Kosher and other certifications relevant to the product and production. Bovine, porcine, chicken, and marine source documentation provided on request.
Common market grades include 80 percent and 90 percent assay grades, with molecular weight cuts specified by customer requirement. The 2,000 to 6,000 dalton range is the standard premium pet-supplement specification.
Bulk and reduced-MOQ shipments. Batch-level COA covering assay, molecular weight distribution, sulfate composition, protein content, heavy metals, and microbiology.
Introduction
Chondroitin Sulfate Oligosaccharide is produced by controlled enzymatic depolymerization of standard chondroitin sulfate, typically using bacterial chondroitinase or hyaluronidase enzymes under defined pH, temperature, and time conditions. The reaction is stopped and the product fractionated to deliver a target molecular weight range of approximately 2,000 to 6,000 daltons.
The rationale for low-molecular-weight chondroitin in companion-animal joint supplements is intestinal absorption. Native chondroitin sulfate is a high-molecular-weight polymer (typically 50,000 to 100,000 daltons) that crosses the gut epithelium poorly in intact form; what is absorbed is mostly the depolymerization products generated by gut microbiota and digestive processing. Pre-depolymerized oligosaccharides bypass this gut-fermentation step and present a higher fraction of absorbable material at the brush border.
The premium positioning of this ingredient relative to standard chondroitin sulfate is built on this bioavailability rationale and on the cleaner solution behavior of the oligosaccharide in liquid pet supplements and high-active soft chews.
Regulatory status in pet food is the same as for the parent chondroitin sulfate: established under AAFCO supplement categories in North America and under corresponding feed-additive frameworks elsewhere. Source species and tissue documentation is provided on the same basis as for standard chondroitin sulfate, supporting allergen disclosure and chain-of-custody requirements.
Where it is used
- Premium dog and cat joint-support supplements positioned around enhanced-absorption claims
- Senior-pet daily mobility chews and powders where bioavailability is a primary product differentiator
- Equine joint pastes and powders for sport horses requiring rapid-onset absorption
- Combined low-molecular-weight glucosamine and chondroitin premium products
- Veterinary post-surgical and rehabilitation joint-support formulations
- Functional dental chews and soft chews carrying joint-health and enhanced-bioavailability claims
- Liquid joint supplement formulations where the parent chondroitin polymer would produce excessive viscosity
- Premium kibble-coating systems delivering joint actives in highly soluble form
